BACKGROUND

Lane Carico was born on April 25th, 1990 in Manhattan Beach, California, to parents Chris and Keli Carico. Lane is one of three, with a brother and an older sister, Weston and Taylor. Lane grew up playing both beach and indoor volleyball.

She attended Mira Costa High School, where she was a 3-time State Champion, 2-time CIF champion, and helped lead her team to a perfect (37-0) season in 2007. In 2008, Lane received an indoor volleyball scholarship to University of Miami. She was named AAC Freshman of the Year in her first year as an outside hitter and received AVCA All-American Honors in 2010 and 2011. Lane was also named ACC Volleyball Player of the Year in 2011. Lane earned her degree in Exercise Physiology.

Upon graduation from University of Miami, Lane competed for Georgia State University’s inaugural sand volleyball team where she exhausted her final year of athletic eligibility. She finished her collegiate career as a Sand Volleyball All-American.

In May 2013, she moved back to Manhattan Beach to pursue a career in professional beach volleyball. As a first year pro, some of her accomplishments included capturing three NORCECA gold medals (Puerto Rico, USA, St. Lucia), three 5th place AVP finishes in her rookie AVP season (Salt Lake City, Manhattan Beach, Huntington Beach), and recognition as AVP Newcomer of the year (Rookie of the Year). As a second year professional in 2014, she placed 3rd at six of the seven AVP tournaments (St. Petersburg, Milwaukee, Manhattan Beach, Cincinnati, Atlantic City and Huntington Beach). In 2015, she continued to thrive on the AVP tour capturing a 2nd place finish (Seattle) and two 3rd place finishes (Manhattan Beach, Chicago) as well as excelled on the FIVB World Tour.

In 2016, Lane continued to compete on the AVP, FIVB and NORCECA tours – winning her first AVP tournament in Seattle, as well as capturing two 2nd place AVP finishes (New York, Manhattan Beach) and two 3rd place AVP finishes (Huntington Beach, San Francisco) and a 5th place at the FIVB China event.
